Vegan Debatable

I am a vegetarian. Why you may ask?

I am because i was sick of eating meat all the time and everything that I ate involved meat. So one day I decided that I am not going to eat meat and I did it. I set a time limit to my vegetarianism and said 3 months just to get ride of the bad habit of eating meat; nine months later I am considering to be a vegan.

When I became vegetarian everyone was like, but bacon how can you deny yourself that?

Simply, saying no it’s unhealthy.

Now I am like but how do I say no to egg, milk, cheese and other dairy products?

I am pretty good when I make a decision I stick to it, but I don’t think I can be vegan. Not just yet anyway.

I like the idea of being completely healthy, but it’s also hard.

Before you comment it’s not healthy and you are not taking all the vitamins; I will you are wrong I haven’t been healthier than I am today just being vegetarian. I simply learnt that I have to eat some certain food chains with some others to get the benefits and the start working.

So Vegetarians, vegans and proper food eaters what do you think? Should I pull the plug and be vegan or wait for another 6 months just for my body to be accustomed to my lifestyle?

  1. Do whatever you feel is right Elektra šŸ™‚ You’ll know when you’re ready! Also what are these food combinations you speak of? I could learn something here šŸ™‚

    1. For example you to get iron is spinach you need to drink orange juice vitamin c so your body can absorb the iron this is just an example… there is a book I have to find it and reply again šŸ˜€

  2. I’m also going through the transition right now from being a vegetarian to being vegan. For me, it’s more based on the environmental impact being a meat/poultry/dairy consumer that’s spurred the change (if you haven’t watched Cowspiracy, you definitely should!). It’s also been easy because I’m lactose-intolerant so that effectively cut all milk and cheese out of my diet anyway so I really only had to give up eggs!

Perhaps try taking one product out of your diet at a time? Some people I know started with milk, then cheese, then eggs but you could do it whatever way made it easier for you! It’s a bit overwhelming at first because there are a lot of ingredients you never realise are derived from animals, but it’s a learning process and you’ve got to do it at your own pace! šŸ™‚

  3. I think you should do what’s right for you. I think it’s hard to be a vegan as there are so many products that contain eggs… I have a vegan friend and when his family comes over for dinner it’s an effort to find something to eat with no meat, no dairy, no eggs šŸ˜‰ But it’s a good little challenge as it opens your eyes to this option. I just enjoy meat too much to go vegetarian… Or vegan…
